Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

day 171: Being Honest

Proverbs 28: 23

In the end, people appreciate honest criticism far more than flattery.

********************

To me, this is one proverb that doesn't really make sense when you first look at it.  You'd imagine that people would appreciate being told how awesome they are better than honest criticism, but it's not the case.

Maybe at first, criticism can sting (boy can it), but once you get past that and get to the end product, you see that it was honest and usually correct.  If the person is coming from a place of love and prayerful consideration, then their imput can be invaluable.

The kicker here is that you have to decide if whomever is critiquing you is being honest or just disagreeable.  That is where prayer comes in.  Really pray about what they say.  The Holy Spirit will defintely lead you down the right path.

Today's song doesn't go with this post at all (sorry about that).  It is one of my favorite Christmas songs ever.  It's "Carol of the Bells" by Barlow Girls (acapella).  Amazing.

God Bless You.
