Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

day 180: Spreading the Word

John 1:1-4

1 Many people have set out to write accounts about the events that have been fulfilled among us. 2 They used the eyewitness reports circulating among us from the early disciples.[a] 3 Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write a careful account for you, most honorable Theophilus, 4 so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.

This verse stuck out to me this morning.  I got to thinking, if no one told about Jesus being born... who would have known? Maybe Mary and Joseph's immediate family.  The shepherds, wise men, maybe a few neighbors.  He would have just been another child born to another family... and who died 2000 years ago.  It's not like we remember Zebidee's son.

In the bible, we have 2 accounts of Jesus' birth.  Luke said that 'MANY' people had written accounts of his birth.  I'd love to read those other accounts because they helped spread Christianity just like the 2 we have.  MANY people weren't afraid to tell about Jesus.  What if those early disciples had been so afraid of Caesar that they refused to tell anyone?  What if they were all skeptics and thought it was all 'religious hooey'?

Luke said he investigated... could you imagine interviewing Mary or Joseph and getting an eyewitness account of what had happened?

Brave people told about Jesus and his birth/word spread all over the world.  God is still doing miracles today... and lots of them.  Are we being brave and spreading the word around like the disciples before us?

Our video today isn't exactly a Christmas song. It's a video that I found on someone's facebook wall (ironic enough). It's if Mary and Joseph had facebook....

God Bless You :)
