Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

day 225: Silently

Genesis 18:11-13
And since Abraham and Sarah were both very old, and Sarah was long past the age of having children, she laughed silently to herself. "How could a worn-out woman like me have a baby?" she thought. "And when my master-- my husband-- is also so old?"

Then the Lord said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh?...."

Do you see the bolded part in that scripture?

God knew exactly what Sarah thought. He knew she didn't believe Him.

Sometimes we have thoughts that we believe we can hide from God. We think we can keep them from other people and no one will ever know.... no one will ever find out.

But we forget that God knows out thoughts (that's kinda scary, ain't it?)

The kicker is that we, for the most part, can't control what we think. It just 'pops in there'--- Let's think back to the movie Ghostbusters (I know, Ghostbusters not really a Christian movie... Thought it did teach me all about Revelations 7:12). Anyway, there is this part where the Ghostbusters are standing on the building and Gozer tells them that the next thing they think of will appear and destroy them--- so they, behing all bright and smart, decide to clear their minds and not think of anything....

And, then here comes the Staypuff Marshmellow Man--- because Ray couldn't keep thoughts out of his mind and it just "popped in there".

Lots of times, we can't control our thoughts, but we can control how we react to them.

In Sarah's case, she lied to God (Not that smartest thing to do) and said she didn't think that--- and God said, "Don't lie to me. You did laugh." (in so many words).

If something comes in our mind like that, tell God you are sorry. He'll forgive you and it will be ok. And don't act on whatever the thoughts are.

It will be ok.

Don't ever try to hide anything from God. He kinda knows everything anyway.

God Bless You

  1. Haa this is funny and TRUE. We tell our children all the time God knows their thoughts! Sometimes my mouth doesn't have a filter, so what POPS in my head POPS outta my mouth. Then I have to ask forgiveness! And I wonder where my children get it??!!
