Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

day 228: Do It Tomorrow

Exodus 8:8-10
Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and begged, "Plead with the Lord to take the frogs away from me and my people. I will let your people go, so they can offer sacrifices to the Lord."

"You set the time!" Moses replied. "Tell me when you want me to pray for you, your officials, and your people. Then you and your houses will be rid of the frogs. They will remain only in the Nile River."

"Do it tomorrow," Pharaoh said.

Here's the thing......

I love this story.

Because it's SO much like us.

The Egyptians had it bad. This was the second plague. They already had all of the water supply turned to blood therefore killing all of the fish, and made the river smell.

Then they had frogs frolicking all over them: in their house, in their beds, in their breakfast cereal (you get the point).

FINALLY, Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron to pray about it and get the animals out of there.

Moses was more than willing, asking when he'd like him to do it (I'd assume the answer would be, "NOW!")

But instead, Pharoah said, "Do it tomorrow."

Seriously?!

You're suffering. You're people are dealing with this huge hinderance. You have to opportunity to take care of it... and you choose to do it... TOMORROW!?

Oh, how human Pharaoh was.....

How human we are....

Think of all of the things we 'put off until tomorrow'. Doctor visits, people visits, that thing you are supposed start for God.... How many things will you 'do tomorrow'? Did your tomorrow ever come?

Pharaoh could have gotten relief instantly, if he'd only asked...

How much longer are we going to suffer before we ask God for relief?

God Bless You

  1. Thank you so much! I was feeling discouraged today, waiting on something I believe God has promised. It seems like I have been waiting awhile and it was good to be reminded it will be in God's timing, not mine.

  2. Oh, I know how that is. We like to put a time table on God, but when we get it (or something more awesome) and look back at it, we see how God had it all planned after all.
