Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

Day 13-- The Beginning of Joseph's Story

Day 13 :37-39

Main People:
Sons of Jacob, Joseph, Reuban, Judah, Tamar, Potiphar, Potiphar’s wife

Key Points:
*Joseph was a bit of a tattle tale.

*Don’t be jealous of what others have

*Don’t love one kid more than the rest.

*Don’t boast over things you have.

*So…. It’s okay for Judah to USE a prostitute, but not for his daughter-in-law to be one…

*And then, there’s the story of Joseph and Potiphar’s wife. Ole Potiphar’s wife thought her servant Joseph was hot stuff. Potiphar trusted Joseph with everything and Joseph didn’t want to ruin that. His wife accused him of attempted rape. Joseph ended up in prison, but it was exactly where God needed him to be.

Verses that Jumped Out at Me:
37:22—Reuban was the only brother not wanting to kill Joseph. He was going to get him out of the wel.

37:32—The brothers mentioned ‘your’ son to Jacob. YOUR… Sarcastic, much? ;)

Question:
What two things did Tamar take from Judah to prove he has slept with her?

  1. he left her his id seal and it's cord and his walking stick........looks like if somebody wanted to sleep with a prostitute they wouldn't leave their id card with them lol

  2. Lol... true. She was a smart one, though. And Judah did seem to learn his lesson, in that particular case anyway.
