Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

day 330: Just Be Patient

Ruth 3:18
Then Naomi said to her, "Just be patient, my daughter, until we hear what happens. The man won't rest until he has settled things today.

*******************

If you knew how many times I checked my email every evening, you'd know I'm not a very patient person.

Same for blog comments...

For the mail...

And of course, when something exciting is coming up (like vacation or school break), the week leading up to it is the S-L-O-W-E-S-T W-E-E-K E-V-E-R.

When I was trying to get pregnant, the 'Two Week Wait' produced torture. The last month of pregnancy when the baby 'could' come 'any day' was exciting and impatient.

I kind of think I use up my patient quota at work and then it goes downhill when I get home.

Anyway, enough about me-- How about you? Are you a patient person? Or are you constantly checking your email, facebook, text messages, tapping your foot in line at the store, checking your watch--waiting for 'something'.

Ruth had a very big, exciting thing happen to her. She had asked Boaz to marry her-- all she needed was his answer. He wanted too, but there was a closer relative to her deceased father-in-law and if he wanted to marry her, it was his right. Boaz decided to ask about it that day at the town gate.

All Ruth could do was wait.

Naomi told her to 'just be patient'. Just let it happen. There was nothing she could do about it anyway.

It's good to be excited for things; it keeps life interesting. But we also need patience to balance it out.

Something ole Kelly needs to work on. How about you? (I ask as I try my hardest not to check comments every two minutes tonight-- ;))

God Bless You,

Kelly

  1. I start out doing well, then after a certain period of time, I must confess, my patience runs very thin :)I find myself reminding God what he promised and there have been times when I actually tried putting God on a time line to full fill his promise because of my lack of patience. I am so grateful he has a sense of humor when it comes to me and my lack of patience :)
    Great reminder Kelly!
