Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

day 324: When You Have to Step Aside (Plus info on New Series!)

John 3:29
It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the best man is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at his success.

(Please read to the end of the post today for an announcement...)

If you don't know what's going on here, John the Baptists disciples are kinda upset that this 'Jesus' has came in and stole their thunder.

They had been the people the crowds flocked too-- they 'popular' ones for a while and then here comes the new guy, showing them up.

John's disciples didn't take very kindly to that.

They asked John, "Hey, why aren't you angry? He's stealing all our thunder!" (paraphrasing of course)

And John said, "I told you people I wasn't the Messiah, and I was just preparing the people. I'm happy for his success and I'm content to stand by his side and let him have the show."

I'm a jealous person (as we have covered before-- several times).

John the Baptist wasn't.

He knew what his job was for God and he fulfilled it. He didn't yell at God that he wanted a bigger power or complain that Jesus had more than he had-- He didn't plot against Jesus nor deny Him.

He simply and graciously stepped aside and let Jesus have control.

What a message for us!? Step aside and let Jesus have control.

**I wanted to announce that starting June 1st, I'm going to be blogging through the Book of John. I've been asked if I was going to write another Bible Study this year and the answers is yes and no. Yes, I'm going to write on John, but it's going to be more commentary than Bible Study.

What does that mean for you? I'd love for you to link up and read along with me :) Or maybe even blog about John for 21 days (trust me, you will have plenty of material). There will be a blog hop opening May 31st when I make the new 'Blogging Thru The Book of John' tab above.

Ideas? Suggestions? Does this sound like something you are exited to read and/or participate in?  I'm SO exited to write it!! I've loved learning about John in our Sunday School Class.

God Bless You,

Kelly
