Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

Day 17: God will provide...

Matthew6:25-27--I tell you not to worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food or enough drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn't life more than food, and  your body  more than clothing?  Look at the birds.  They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns for your Heavenly Father feeds them.  And aren't you more valuable to him than they are?  Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

******************

Worry is probably about as useless and harmful to us as anger.  Worry stresses us and hurts our body just like being angry does.  But it's also another pretty common thing we do.

I'm guilty of this.  When I read this scripture, I had the urge to raise both hands and say, "YES! That's me!!!!"  Not that I'm proud of it, but because of the HOPE Jesus gives us in that scripture.

Can you imagine?  Can you picture it?

I couldn't until I read that....

God loves the birds.  He made them so of course he loves them.  He takes care of them. He provides stick and twigs for a nest.  He provides worms for their food and to feed their little babies. At our house, God provided a rather ugly bush that I wanted cut down that is taking over the front porch.  It is now the home to 3 cute little birds who live right at eye level.  My girls love watching them growing each day.  God took the time to provide everything that Mama bird needed...

So WHY should I worry that he won't take care of me?

I'll tell you why... because (unlike the bird)... I want God to take care of me the way *I* want him too.  I want a certain job... a certain answer to a prayer... a certain lifestyle.  I don't think the bird cares if the worm she's getting for her baby is generic or name brand.

God provides for the birds... he WILL provide for us.  We have to believe that.  Because sitting and worrying about something never did anybody (including me) any good.  We need to take what he gives us... and be grateful for it.  Just like those baby birds are.

God loves you!  Give your worries to him :)

God Bless You!

Kelly

  1. This is so good, Kelly! I think you're so right. We don't trust because we want things our way. All creation knows that God is a good and faithful provider, but yet we doubt. I want to learn from the birds and just trust. God not only provided for that momma bird with your bush, but He provided enjoyment for you and your girls. He is so good!

  2. Hi Kelly - just now I was sitting and thinking, we need to do this, get that, how are we going to get this done if that happens and when is this one going to pay.....Thanks for the reminder to trust. I've worried myself into a frenzy so many times and God always comes through. You would think I'd have learnt by now.
    Great post
    God bless

  3. Yeap, Ladies. It's so easy (SO EASY) to worry about God providing. We all do it... and we all shouldn't. I'm going to work harder on it. I know the area I have to work on it the most too lol.
