Day 35: When the Smallest becomes the Greatest

Judges 6: 14-16~ (The angel of the Lord sat next to Gideon under a tree)
Then the Lord turned to him and said, "Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you! "
"But Lord," Gideon replied, "how can I rescue Israel?  My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least of my entire family!"
The Lord said to him, "I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as you were fighting against one man."

A lot of times, we know God is telling us to do something, but we tell Him (like Gideon did) that we are too small-- not important enough-- to carry out the task He wants us to do.

Gideon told the Lord that he was the weakest of the weak.... that his tribe was the weakest and he was the smallest.

And what did God say?

He said, "I will be with you."


What army can go against a man who has God with him?  Apparently none of them.

A "tiny" man can conquer countries..... as long as God is with him.

And, guess what?  We can too!

If God is calling you, like Gideon, for some kind of service, don't see your limitations because you have none with God's help.  Don't waste your time arguing with God.... telling him all of your imperfections, your weaknesses, etc.  If God can work through Gideon, he can work through you. 

God doesn't make mistakes. He doesn't send the wrong calling to the wrong person.  And He already knows all of your "Imperfections"... and guess what?  HE chose you anyway!

That is something to smile and rejoice about :)

Be confident!  You're weakest will be God's strongest.  Your "I can't" is God's "WE can". 

The Lord will be with you.

  2. Thanks :) It really does encourage me. We are working on Gideon's story at sunday school today. I just wish it didn't end so tragically :(
