Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

Day 73: 'Other' peoples' problems

Luke 6:41:42
"And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying, 'Friend, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye', when you can't see past the log in your own eye?  Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye, then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye."

**************************************

Ok.... yeah... it's SO much easier to see other people's faults.  We can see their downfalls with High Definition glasses.

Their 'issues' are amazing clear.

Their 'faults' are such that everyone should see them.

Their 'sins' are clear as day.

Amazing how well we can see other people's faults... when we ourselves have logs the size of telephone poles in our own eyes.

I bet I could tell you 20 things that are wrong with my husband (bless him), and I could probably 'fix' everyone of them.... but how hard would it be to change the table and looked at myself as strictly.

We are all like this, I think.  We can see what is wrong with others much more clearly than we see ourselves.

Maybe we need to take time to think about that other person... think about their feelings, their motives, their family life, etc.  Put ourselves in their shoes and THEN see how we feel about the perceived 'specks'.

I had to laugh when this verse came up tonight, but its something I really  needed... didn't want ;)... but needed.

How about you?  Are you looking around your own log to see someone elses' splinter?

Something very important to think about.

God Bless You!

Kelly

  2. It is hard to look at yourself. I'll be honest, sometimes I need someone to point out the 'flaws' in my own character before I see them myself.

  3. Why is it, Kelly, that we can see everyone's faults but our own? I don't want to live with blind spots, and obviously God doesn't want me to live that way either, because He keeps revealing more logs that need to be removed. :)

Kathiann, I'm too hard on myself in some ways.... and not hard enough in others I think

  5. I'm definitely flawed - I go for the speck when I do what comes naturally. Sometimes though I listen to that inner voice and give what I so much want to receive - GRACE.

    I'm a new follower - btw. :)

  6. Definitely!!!! It's definitely easier to ignore our own problems and focus on someone else's! After all, WE don't have to do any of the actual work involved in fixing THEIR problems. Picking other people apart makes us feel better too. Isn't that sad. Thanks for giving me more stuff to work on, Kelly. :)
