Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

Day 66: The Hidden Little Secret

Proverbs 10: 18
Hiding hatred makes you a liar:
slandering others makes you a fool

********************

"But I don't say it out loud!"

I think that everyone (or most everyone) has a person that they don't really like that well.  It could be a family member, co-worker, 'friend', celebrity (they are people too)... whomever.

Even if we don't voice our dislike or 'hatred' out loud, doesn't mean that it's not a sin to feel that way about them.

We see in this proverb that it is as much of a sin (lying) to hide hatred as it is to verbally announce it (slandering).

We have to watch our hearts.  Hidden anger/hate can turn our hearts cold.  It can cause us to clam up/get sick to our stomach/ say things we wouldn't normally say... etc.

If we have any hatred in our hearts and are trying to hide it (God can see even in our hearts), we need to pray really hard to God to heal us of that negative emotion.  With His help, we can get rid of that hatred and start loving our neighbor.  Everyone is our neighbor... whether we 'like' them or not.

God Bless You!

Kelly

  1. Hi Kelly - great scripture. This is the 2nd time I've come across someone saying what you say or think about a celebrity God sees and you may not know them but our dislike or disdain is real. I think God is trying to tell me something. Have compassion for those who appear to have it all, for at the end of the day, do they have Christ?
    Great post
    God bless

  2. Another great truth, Kelly. Jesus said that whoever looks on another with hatred in his heart is guilty of murder. And the Bible says that the world will know we are His disciples by our love. Am I showing love to everyone?

  4. "Everyone is our neighbor, whether we like it or not!" I guess that gives us no choice as to loving everyone.

  5. Lol, Shanda. We don't have to necessarily like everyone, but we do have to love them.... and loving is SO MUCH easier if we like them... so it's better to just give it up and like them (if that made any sense lol0

Joyful Grandma, thanks SO much for stopping by and 'following' :)

Lisa, I didn't know Jesus said that (I haven't made it to the NT yet in my B90). Wow, so yeah, hatred = bad

Tracy, its so easy to very much dislike a celebrity... but as much as we forget sometimes, they are 'real' people too lol (I love commercials that say 'real people not actors' lol lol
