Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

Day 65: Stingy

Mark 10:25
In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!"

*********************************

I'm not going to lie... I like money.

People are going to stop reading this if I don't stop being so honest lol.

But its true... I like having money and feeling secure. (now, I'm not in love with it.)

I like having a little in savings "just in case".

I like knowing that we have a little nest egg.

I'm not rich by ANY stretch of the imagination lol.  But still, I like knowing I have enough in case any emergency.

I'm not entirely sure my thinking is right.

God wants us to rely on Him for all of our needs.  He wants us to use what money we have for his Glory and for His work.

Do I think that  means giving away all of our money?

No, I really don't.

But what I DO think that means is that we shouldn't be stingy with our money.  We should willingly give to charity, tips, tithe (that has been a hard one for me to do in the past, but I'm much better about it now).  We need our money... God has blessed us with it!  However, we don't need to be so attached to it that we can't bless/help others with it.

After all, we can't take it with us.

That song, "He's Still Working on Me" is stuck in my head this morning :)

God Bless you :)

  1. Hi Kelly - we try to live by the saying - you can't out-give God. And we have found the more you give, the more He returns to you because He sees a faithful vessel. Great post.
    God bless

  2. I like money, I just don't have it :) The tithing thing isn't as hard for me as it is for some. My church does a 10% off the top thing, and as I don't make all that much I don't have a problem paying, that and it goes to things that are good for the church (and pays the electric bill, no electricity, no air conditioning, that would be bad). But anyway, I think it's safe to say that I'm not so attached to my stuff that I put God behind them.

Nice post today, have a wonderful day!

  3. It helps me to remember that it's all His to begin with. We are just stewards of it. It is hard for me when I know God is telling me to do something regardless of money (changing jobs, mission trips, etc.), but I am so fearful. Thank you for your post to remind me of His provision! Brenda

  4. Kelly, I really appreciate your honesty and transparency. :) I know exactly how you feel - I like knowing that we have some money in the bank. But God recently spoke to me about that. Do I trust the money in the bank or do I trust Him? I want to give freely, knowing that He is faithful and will always provide. Great post!
