Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

day 121:When You Need a Kick in the Pants...

Hebrews 10:24
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.

******************************

Sometimes..... we aren't motiviated.

We don't wanna read our Bible.

We don't wanna spend time with God.

We don't wanna go to church.

We. Don't. Wanna.

We need motivation.

Personally, I need a lot of motivation to keep going.  My motivation for this blog was my promise to God that I would do what He told me and write 365 daily devotionals.  Even on days when I didn't really have the words, God did and I'm on day 121.

I had to have motivation to finish the Bible in 90 days program.  My sister who did it with me was a great motivation along with the weekly signing in for accountability.

This February, I was riding my exercise bike 5 miles a day and keeping tabs of it on one of the mommy boards I frequent.  I was doing well--- then I stopped writing it down. And I stopped doing it.  I don't think I've ridden my bike since June because I have lost that accountability.

The point is, we NEED motivation to finish any task.  We need to be held accountable for doing things for God.  For acts of love, and for good works.

Sometimes it's easier to sit back and think, "No one will ever know if I don't donate food to the Help Center this month."

Well, God knows.

Find someone in your life that you can be accountability buddies with.  Someone to motivate you--- and you inturn motivate them to show acts of love and do good works.  If you don't have anyone, email me (ohthatmomagain [at] yahoo [dot] com) and I'd be glad to be your accountability partner.  I need some as well (thought my sister does a pretty good job lol).

The verse says for us to ".... think of ways to motivate one another"

What ways can you think of?

Off the top of my head I can think:
*Comment on blog posts you like

*Send a friend encouraging Bible verses a few times a day.

*Buddy up for church functions.

*Be a listening ear when someone needs to talk.

*Encourage people to not give up.

*Be someone's accountability partner.  I need to lose weight and I've had a few people offer to be my accountability buddy.  This could work for Godly work too.

What other ways can you think to motivate one another?  We all need it at times?  Do you do something in your life (or wish you could do) that you really like?   Please share any ideas you can think of.  I'm really interested in this :)

God Bless You.

  1. You know, Kelly, I've read and heard that verse many times - I've even quoted it, but I'm not sure I have really thought about applying it like this. Leaving comments on a blog is one way to motivate our brothers and sisters. We need to be helping each other so that none of us fall. Great post, thanks!

  2. Joining a group helps me, whether it be a Bible study that has required reading, a writing group that practices with prompts and reads manuscripts, or an exercise class. The fellowship of others in the same boat really encourages me.
    Blessings!
