Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Cor. 15:58

day 116: Faith and Works

James 2:14
What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith, but don't show it by your actions?  Can that kind of faith save anyone?
**********************************
The entire chapter is actually a very important thing to read, and if you haven't read it in a while, you should.
.
This isn't saying that good works get you to heaven, but its saying that if you have faith and don't do good works, that here on earth it won't do others any good.

.
If you have faith in Jesus--- trust him as your savior-- and just sit in the pew every Sunday. You have faith.  *you* will go to Heaven.  But what about Bob down the street who doesn't go to church and isn't touched by anyone's good works?

.
I'm talking to me as much as anyone.

.
I'm an avid sit filler.

.
However, I keep finding scriptures that keep pointing me to something more.  More what... I'm not entirely sure, but definitely 'more'.

.
If you keep reading in that chapter, it says that even the demons know who Jesus is-- but their actions don't honor him--- not by a long shot.  I'm not comparing us to demons, but there is a difference in knowing God and serving God.

.
I wrote about it once before (not on this blog though I don't think).

.
Faith is essential in Christian life.  Actions are outward expressions of how we show our faith.

.
How are you showing your faith?  What ideas do you have for someone to show their faith to others?

.
God Bless You, Friends :)

  2. Kelly, your verse in James goes along with what I wrote about today. Our lives should reflect that faith and hope we have found in Jesus. We should be giving and living with love. Many blessings!

  4. So true! We can believe in God, but if we don't show our faith in action, we are not demonstrating His love. Good works is our response to God's gift of salvation! Encouraging post!

    Blessings, Joan

P.S. Thanks so much for dropping by my prayer blog today!
